Softswitch & Application Servers
A softswitch is a centrally located device in a network which connects telephone calls from one phone line to another, entirely by means of a specialized software running on a computer system. This work was formerly carried out by hardware, with physical switchboards to route the calls.
Packet telephony and the softswitch have moved communications into a computing paradigm allowing the rapid introduction of next generation services. The softswitch's flexible architecture and support for open standards allows third party developers to utilize the softswitch resources and create new applications not possible in the voice infrastructure.
CommVerge Solutions have the packet networks expertise and software integration knowledge to leverage on softswitches, SIP technologies, and packet infrastructure to help service providers combine their voice and data networks into a converged network and rapidly deploy VoIP and other multi-media services to meet market demands and gain competitive advantage.
