Stirling Cycle was devised by Robert Stirling in 1845 which consists of two isothermal proceses and two constant volume processes.
The last two processes are performed with the help of a regenerator to make this cycle reversible. The p-v and T-s diagrams of this cycle are shown in Fig. 5.8 (a) and (b) respectively.
The efficiency of the stirling cycle is same as that of Carnot cycle. This is due to the fact that this cycle is reversible and all reversible cycles have the same efficiency.
